About

Welcome! I'm so glad you are here!

I started dreaming about Iris and Evergreen far before it became a reality. My sister and I would discuss name possibilities and creative ideas for our business all the way back when we were kids (but the business back then was a bakery in a fictional new state-- oh, how things change!). Since growing older and discovering where my passions and talents lie, the art brand Iris and Evergreen was born. I wanted a botanical name to reflect a fresh, elegant feel. In our original dreamland discussions, my sister and I came up with Iris to represent both flowers and eyes-- Becca is an incredible artist who can really capture soul and feeling in her work. When it came time for me to pursue my own business, I still felt connected with Iris as an option so I asked Becca if I could use the name we had come up with, and of course she was supportive! Now, for me the Iris represents my love of florals, as well as the connection I intentionally create with my small business community (both in customers and in other small shops). So in a way, the Iris of Iris and Evergreen is a little bit of you! Evergreen was a part of every single option when it came to naming my business. I love the fresh, steadfast, calm and cozy nature of an evergreen tree. They can withstand a lot, they are strong, yet not overbearing. And they represent the best time of year, of course. The holiday season is my favorite time of year and I really try to embody the magic and spirit of the season year round by appreciating the little things, sprinkling kindness wherever I go, romanticizing the best parts of every season, and spreading joy to those around me. And that's what I've endeavored to do with Iris and Evergreen. My hope is that you find a piece that brings you joy, a gift that sprinkles kindness, that you feel cozy when you interact with me and my shop.

My name is Sammy, owner and creator at Iris and Evergreen.

I've always been a creative person and have yearned for a job where I could lean into my artistic side a bit more-- so I created it myself! This work has been the most challenging and rewarding and I am so grateful and honored that you've taken some time to be a part of my small business journey.
I started my creative journey by learning how to knit in high school. Shortly thereafter I learned how to quilt and crochet. Painting and drawing came much later. I painted as a kid, but it was nothing remarkable-- you know, the typical squiggly lines situation all kids make. I only really started painting in 2021, and I have loved diving headfirst into this artistic realm!

I love getting to create for my job. Most days you'll find me in a sweatshirt and fun socks and either a paintbrush or apple pencil in my hand, with my rescue dog, Lucy, nearby.
